Polish police have arrested two individuals in connection to a DDoS-for-Hire service that has been in operation since 2013.
The arrests have been part of an international law enforcement operation named “Operation Power Off” conducted by the Polish Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime in cooperation with Europol, the FBI, and law enforcement agencies from the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium, and the Joint Cybercrime Action Taskforce (J-CAT).
Investigators said the service had more than 35,000 registered accounts and was used to launch more than 320,000 attacks, and generated more than $400,000 for its operators.
As part of the operation, the data was seized from the perpetrators’ servers located in Switzerland.
During the searches at suspects’ homes, the police seized electronic equipment and a private key for a cryptocurrency wallet containing 1 bitcoin and 1 Bitcoin Cash. The investigation into this case is ongoing so more arrests are possible in the future, the police said.
Last month, US authorities seized 13 domains linked to DDoS-for-Hire services as part of Operation Power Off.
