Ukrainian hacktivists leak personal data of 38M clients of Russia’s largest bank

A Ukrainian hacktivist group known as KibOrg has leaked the entire customer database of Russia's largest commercial bank, Alfa-Bank.

The database contains full names, dates of birth, telephone numbers, account details and other sensitive data, totaling over 115 million records overall. Of these records, around 38 million are unique, the group said, noting that the database contains records dating as far as 2004.

KibOrg, which describes itself as a “project of journalists and IT specialists united together in the fight against aggression in the information space,” compromised Alfa-Bank in October 2023 and released the data of 44 million customers. At the time, Alfa-Bank denied the hack and said that it was fake news.

The group is also known for its September 2023 breach of the Russian database of the Sirena-Travel booking system. The hacktivists obtained information on 664 million flights over the last 16 years. The leaked data included passengers' last names, first names, phone numbers, routes, fares, and ticket price information.
