Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-0741)

Vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform Cross-site scripting attacks.

An input validation error exists in ModX Evolution before 1.0.5 when processing the (1) installer or (2) image editor. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in victim's browser in security context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

2) SQL injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2010-3929)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary SQL queries in database.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request to the affected application and execute arbitrary SQL commands within the application database.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to read, delete, modify data in database and gain complete control over the affected application.

3) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2010-3930)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences in MODx Evolution 1.0.4 and earlier. A remote authenticated attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request and remote attackers to read arbitrary files via unspecified vectors related to AjaxSearch, a different vulnerability than CVE-2010-1427.
