EUVDB-ID: #VU32838

Risk: Medium

CVSSv4.0: 2.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green]

CVE-ID: CVE-2011-4539

CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform service disruption.

dhcpd in ISC DHCP 4.x before 4.2.3-P1 and 4.1-ESV before 4.1-ESV-R4 does not properly handle regular expressions in dhcpd.conf, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via a crafted request packet.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

DHCP: 4.0-esv - 4.4.1
