Description

This security bulletin contains information about 9 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-2088)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Integer signedness error in the TIFFReadDirectory function in tif_dirread.c in libtiff 3.9.4 and earlier. A remote attacker can use a negative tile depth in a tiff image to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

2) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-2113)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to read and manipulate data.

Multiple integer overflows in tiff2pdf in libtiff before 4.0.2 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted tiff image, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.

3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-4447)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Heap-based buffer overflow in tif_pixarlog.c in LibTIFF before 4.0.3. A remote attacker can use a crafted TIFF image using the PixarLog Compression format. to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-4564)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in ppm2tiff does not check the return value of the TIFFScanlineSize function, which. A remote attacker can use a crafted PPM image that triggers an integer overflow to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

5) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2013-1960)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Heap-based buffer overflow in the t2p_process_jpeg_strip function in tiff2pdf in libtiff 4.0.3 and earlier. A remote attacker can use a crafted TIFF image file. to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

6) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2013-1961)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the t2p_write_pdf_page function in tiff2pdf when processing a crafted image length and resolution in a TIFF image file. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

7) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2013-4231)

The vulnerability allows remote attackers to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds write) via a crafted (1) extension block in a GIF image or (2) GIF raster image to tools/gif2tiff.c or (3) a long filename for a TIFF image to tools/rgb2ycbcr.c.

8) Code Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2013-4232)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in a crafted TIFF image. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

9) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2013-4244)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to read and manipulate data.

The LZW decompressor in the gif2tiff tool in libtiff 4.0.3 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds write and crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted GIF image.
