Description

This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-3994)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to #BASIC_IMPACT#.

The GIF loader in imlib2 before 1.4.9 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or obtain sensitive information via a crafted image, which triggers an out-of-bounds read.

2) Division by zero (CVE-ID: CVE-2011-5326)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to divide-by-zero error within imlib2 before 1.4.9. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service (divide-by-zero error and application crash) by drawing a 2x1 ellipse.

3) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-3993)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to perform denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition within the the __imlib_MergeUpdate function function in lib/updates.c file. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and crash the affected application.

4) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-4024)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.

Integer overflow in imlib2 before 1.4.9 on 32-bit platforms allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via large dimensions in an image, which triggers an out-of-bounds heap memory write operation.
