Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Out-of-bounds read

EUVDB-ID: #VU38619

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 6.9 [AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2017-12067

CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to heap-based buffer over-read in the interpolate_cubic function in mkbitmap.c. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service attack.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

2) Input validation error

EUVDB-ID: #VU39379

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 7.1 [AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2017-7263

CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows remote attackers to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted BMP image.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.
