Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Security restrictions bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-6922)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions on the target system.

The weakness exists due to insufficient file protection. A remote attacker can bypass access restrictions and view private files that have been uploaded by an anonymous user but not permanently attached to content on the site.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in access bypass.

Note: The vulnerability was being actively exploited for spam purposes.

2) Arbitrary PHP code execution (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-6920)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute PHP code on the target system.

The weakness exists due to improper handling of PHP objects by PECL YAML parser during certain operations within Drupal core. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted file and execute PHP code on the vulnerable system.

3) Security restrictions bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-6921)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions on the site.

The weakness exists due to improper validation of some fields by the file REST resource when manipulating files. If the site has the RESTful Web Services (rest) module enabled, the file REST resource is enabled and allows PATCH requests and has, a remote attacker can obtain a user account on the site with permissions to upload files and to modify the file resource.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in access bypass.
