Description

This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-8139)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Heap-based buffer overflow in the CRC32 verification in Info-ZIP UnZip 6.0 and earlier. A remote attacker can use a crafted zip file in the -t command argument to the unzip command. to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-8140)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Heap-based buffer overflow in the test_compr_eb function in Info-ZIP UnZip 6.0 and earlier. A remote attacker can use a crafted zip file in the -t command argument to the unzip command. to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-8141)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Heap-based buffer overflow in the getZip64Data function in Info-ZIP UnZip 6.0 and earlier. A remote attacker can use a crafted zip file in the -t command argument to the unzip command. to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

4) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-9844)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in the zi_short() function in zipinfo.c when processing a large compression method value in the central directory file header. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted array to the application and trigger denial of service (DoS) condition.

5) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-1000035)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition or execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The weakness exists due to heap-based buffer overflow in the processing of password-protected archives. A remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and cause the service to crash or execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

6) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-18384)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it with the affected software, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
