Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-12183)
The vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in DxeCore. An attacker with physical access to the system can trigger a stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
2) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-12182)
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient memory write check in SMM service. A local user can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.Remediation
