Description
This security bulletin contains information about 7 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Security restrictions bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-17130)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to Microsoft Excel does not properly impose security restrictions, which leads to security restrictions bypass.
2) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-17129)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing Microsoft Excel files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel document, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
3) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-17128)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing Microsoft Excel files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel document, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-17127)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing Microsoft Excel files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel document, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
5) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-17126)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
6) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-17122)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing Microsoft Excel files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel document, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
7) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-17123)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing Microsoft Excel files. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted Excel document, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
