SB2021041409 - Multiple vulnerabilities in Siemens Nucleus Products

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-15795)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted input in the DNS domain name label parsing functionality. A remote attacker can trigger out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

2) Use of Out-of-range Pointer Offset (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-27009)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to the DNS domain name record decompression functionality does not properly validate the pointer offset values. A remote atttacker can execute arbitrary code on the system.
