Description

This security bulletin contains information about 9 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Incorrect default permissions (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-8908)

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to incorrect default permissions for files located in the temporary directory set by the Guava com.google.common.io.Files.createTempDir(). A local user with access to the system can view contents of files and directories or modify them.

2) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-2377)

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated user to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the SQR component in PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. A remote authenticated user can exploit this vulnerability to gain access to sensitive information.

3) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-2407)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the Portal component in PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. A remote non-authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to gain access to sensitive information.

4) Cleartext storage of sensitive information (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-21290)

The vulnerability allows a local user to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to insecure usage of temporary files in AbstractDiskHttpData method in Netty. The application stores sensitive information in temporary file that has insecure permissions. A local user can view application's temporary file and gain access to potentially sensitive data.

5) Stored cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-7017)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data in region map visualizations. A remote authenticated attacker can permanently inject and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

6) Security features bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-3450)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.

The vulnerability exists due to an error in implementation of the X509_V_FLAG_X509_STRICT flag allows an attacker to overwrite a valid CA certificate using any non-CA certificate in the chain. As a result, a remote attacker can perform MitM attack.

7) DNS rebinding (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-22884)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform DNS rebinding attack.

The vulnerability exists due to the application whitelist includes the “localhost6” name. When “localhost6” is not present in /etc/hosts, it is treated an ordinary domain that is resolved via DNS, i.e., over network. If the attacker controls the victim's DNS server or can spoof its responses, the DNS rebinding protection can be bypassed by using the “localhost6” domain.

8) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-27568)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to read data or crash the application.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the REST Services (netplex json-smart-v1) component in PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. A remote non-authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to read data or crash the application.

9) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-17195)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to Nimbus JOSE+JWT throws various uncaught exceptions while parsing a JWT. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted JWT token and cause the application to crash or potentially bypass authentication.
