Description

This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: N/A)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error when processing RARv4 files. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

2) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: N/A)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the run_filters() function when processing RARv4 files. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted archive, trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

3) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: N/A)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the archive_read_format_rar_read_data() function when processing RARv4 files. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted archive, trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: N/A)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when reading ISO archives within the read_children() function in libarchive/archive_read_support_format_iso9660.c. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted ISO archive, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

5) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-26280)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition when processing ZIP files in zipx_lzma_alone_init. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted .zip archive, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.

6) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: N/A)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition when handling 7zip archives. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted 7z archive, trick the victim into opening it, trigger out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
