Description

This security bulletin contains information about 8 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Security features bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-39713)

The vulnerability allows a local application to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to multiple issues in Qdisc implementation related to rcu read lock. A local application can execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

2) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-0492)

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to a logic error within the cgroup_release_agent_write() function in  kernel/cgroup/cgroup-v1.c. A local user can use the cgroups v1 release_agent feature to escalate privileges and bypass the namespace isolation.

3) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-1055)

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the tc_new_tfilter in Linux kernel. A local user can run a specially crafted program to trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

4) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-1116)

The vulnerability allows a local user to execute code with elevated privileges.

The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow in the io_uring subsystem in the Linux kernel. A local user can trigger integer overflow, cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

5) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-25636)

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in net/netfilter/nf_dup_netdev.c in the Linux kernel, related to nf_tables_offload. A local user can trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

6) Improper update of reference count (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-29581)

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper update of reference count in net/sched in Linux kernel. A local user can execute arbitrary code with root privileges.

7) Incorrect default permissions (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-30594)

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to mishandling seccomp permissions. A local user can bypass intended restrictions on setting the PT_SUSPEND_SECCOMP flag and escalate privileges on the system.

8) Improper access control (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-21499)

The vulnerability allows a local user to bypass implemented security restrictions.

The vulnerability exists due to improper access restrictions to the kernel debugger when booted in secure boot environments. A local privileged user can bypass UEFI Secure Boot restrictions.
