SB2022092102 - Multiple vulnerabilities in IBM Operations Dashboard

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-22144)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to an uncontrolled recursion issue in the Elasticsearch Grok parser. A remote authenticated attacker can trigger resource exhaustion and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

2) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-22145)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists in Elasticsearch error reporting. A remote attacker can submit a malformed query that would result in an error message returned containing previously used portions of a data buffer with sensitive information such as Elasticsearch documents or authentication details.
