Description
This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Incorrect Regular Expression (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-21680)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to regular expression `block.def` may cause catastrophic backtracking against some strings. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform regular expression denial of service (ReDos) attack.
2) Incorrect Regular Expression (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-21681)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to regular expression `inline.reflinkSearch` may cause catastrophic backtracking against some strings. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform regular expression denial of service (ReDos) attack.
3) Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-29153)
The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform SSRF attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request and trick the application to initiate requests to arbitrary systems.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker gain access to sensitive data, located in the local network or send malicious requests to other servers from the vulnerable system.
4) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-3920)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to the affected application does not filter cluster filtering's imported nodes and services for HTTP or RPC endpoints used by the UI. A remote attacker can gain unauthorized access to sensitive information on the system.
5) Unchecked Return Value (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-40716)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to bypass implemented security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to an error when handling CSR requests at the RPC endpoint. A remote user with access to a client agent’s mTLS certificate and a valid ACL token for any service within the mesh can send a specially crafted certificate signing request (CSR) to the Consul’s internal RPC endpoint and bypass intended ACL token restrictions.
