Description
This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) XML External Entity injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-27554)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to gain access to sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied XML input. A remote user can pass a specially crafted XML code to the affected application and view contents of arbitrary files on the system or initiate requests to external systems.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to view contents of arbitrary file on the server or perform network scanning of internal and external infrastructure.
2) Improper validation of certificate with host mismatch (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-39161)
The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform MitM attack.
The vulnerability exists due to improper certificate validation issued by a trusted CA when configured to communicate with the Web Server Plug-ins for IBM WebSphere Application Server. A remote user can perform a man-in-the-middle (MitM) attack and gain access to sensitive information.
3) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-24966)
The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data in the Web UI. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.
4) Configuration (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-35890)
The issue may allow a remote attacker to bypass expected security restrictions.
The issue exists due to improper encoding in a local configuration file. A remote attacker can bypass expected security restrictions.
