Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) Heap-based buffer overflow

EUVDB-ID: #VU79822

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 8.5 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2023-39947

CWE-ID: CWE-122 - Heap-based Buffer Overflow

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted PID_PROPERTY_LIST parameter to the system, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

2) Heap-based buffer overflow

EUVDB-ID: #VU79821

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 8.5 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2023-39946

CWE-ID: CWE-122 - Heap-based Buffer Overflow

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in eprosima::fastdds::dds::ParameterPropertyList_t::push_back_helper() function. A remote attacker can send an overly long CDR string to the discovery multicast port, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Mitigation

Install updates from vendor's website.
