Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-5341)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the ReadBMPImage() function in coders/bmp.c. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted image to the application, trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise vulnerable system.


2) Memory leak (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-48541)

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to memory leak within the AnimateImageCommand() function in MagickWand/animate.c. A local user can perform a denial of service attack using the "identify -help" command.
