Description

This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-38223)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted HTML input within the checkType() function in etc.c. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted HTML file, trick the victim into opening it using the affected software, trigger out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.


2) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-38252)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to crash the application.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition within the Strnew_size() function in Str.c. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted HTML file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger an out-of-bounds read error and crash the application.


3) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-38253)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to crash the application.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition within the growbuf_to_Str() function in indep.c. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted HTML file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger an out-of-bounds read error and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


4) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-4255)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing untrusted input within the checkType() function in etc.c. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted HTML file, trick the victim into opening it using the affected software, trigger an out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
