Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 4 vulnerabilities.

1) Improper input validation

EUVDB-ID: #VU28582

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 7.1 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2016-1181

CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the Common Component Integration (Struts1) component in Oracle Retail Markdown Optimization. A remote non-authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

eDiscovery Manager: before 2.2.2.3.8

Q & A

Can this vulnerability be exploited remotely?

Yes. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote non-authenticated attacker via the Internet.

Is there known malware, which exploits this vulnerability?

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

2) Improper input validation

EUVDB-ID: #VU2803

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 6.2 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2016-1182

CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting attack or cause DoS condition on the target system.

The weakness exists due to improper restrictions of the Validation configuration by ActionServlet.java in Apache Struts. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted input, trick the victim into opening it and conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks or cause the application to crash.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may result in denial of service.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

3) Cross-site scripting

EUVDB-ID: #VU88924

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 4.6 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2008-2025

CWE-ID: CWE-79 - Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

Exploit availability: No

Description

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

4) Security restrictions bypass

EUVDB-ID: #VU9754

Risk: Low

CVSSv3.1: 6.4 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2015-0899

CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions on the target system.

The weakness exists due to an error in the MultiPageValidator implementation in Apache Struts. A remote attacker can supply a modified page parameter to bypass intended access restrictions.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.
