EUVDB-ID: #VU93541
Risk: Medium
CVSSv3.1: 6.8 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]
CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38474
CWE-ID:
CWE-20 - Improper input validation
Exploit availability: No
DescriptionThe vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in mod_rewrite when parsing encoded question marks in backreferences. A remote attacker can execute scripts in directories permitted by the configuration but not directly reachable by any URL or source disclosure of scripts meant to only to be executed as CGI.
Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.
Vulnerable software versionsBIG-IP: 15.0.0 - 17.1.1.3

Q & A
Can this vulnerability be exploited remotely?
Yes. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote non-authenticated attacker via the Internet.
Is there known malware, which exploits this vulnerability?
No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

Risk: High
CVSSv3.1: 7.7 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:P/RL:U/RC:C]
CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38475
CWE-ID:
CWE-20 - Improper input validation
Exploit availability: Yes
DescriptionThe vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in mod_rewrite when first segment of substitution matches filesystem path. A remote attacker can map URLs to filesystem locations that are permitted to be served by the server but are not intentionally/directly reachable by any URL and view contents of files or execute arbitrary code.
Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.

CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38473
CWE-ID:
CWE-20 - Improper input validation
Exploit availability: Yes
DescriptionThe vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authentication.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when handling incorrect encoding in mod_proxy. A remote attacker can force the web server to pass request URLs with incorrect encoding to backend services.
Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.

CVSSv3.1: 7.8 [CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:H/RL:U/RC:C]
CVE-ID: CVE-2022-2586
CWE-ID:
CWE-416 - Use After Free
Exploit availability: Yes
DescriptionThe vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the the netfilter subsystem implementation in Linux kernel when preventing one nft object from referencing an nft set in another nft table. A local user can trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges.
Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any official solution to address this vulnerability.
