Description

This security bulletin contains information about 8 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Improper access control (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-9164)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to otherwise restricted functionality.

The vulnerability exists due to improper access restrictions. A remote user can run pipelines on arbitrary branches.

2) Improper access control (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-8970)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to otherwise restricted functionality.

The vulnerability exists due to improper access restrictions. A remote user can bypass implemented security restrictions and impersonate arbitrary user.

3) Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-8977)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform SSRF attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in Analytics Dashboard. A remote user can send a specially crafted HTTP request and trick the application to initiate requests to arbitrary systems.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker gain access to sensitive data, located in the local network or send malicious requests to other servers from the vulnerable system.

4) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-9631)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to viewing diffs of MR with conflicts can be slow. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

5) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-6530)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data in OAuth page. A remote user can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

6) Security features bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-9623)

The vulnerability allows a remote user to compromise the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to application does not properly impose security restrictions. A remote administrator can cause the deploy keys to push to an archived repository.

7) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-5005)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to excessive data output by the application. A remote user can disclose project templates using the API.

8) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-9596)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to excessive data output by the application. A remote attacker can determine the GitLab version number for a GitLab instance.
