Description

This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Reachable Assertion (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-23009)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a reachable assertion. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted IKEv2 TS payload with an incorrect selector length and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

2) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-38711)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error when processing IKEv1 Quick Mode packets. A remote attacker can send specially crafted packets to the system and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

3) Reachable Assertion (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-38710)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a reachable assertion when processing IKEv2 REKEY packets. A remote attacker can send specially crafted packets to the system and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

4) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-38712)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when processing IKEv1 ISAKMP SA packets. A remote attacker can send specially crafted input to the system and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

5) Error Handling (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-2357)

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to incorrect handling of a missing PreSharedKey when  a connection is configured to use reSharedKeys (authby=secret) and the connection cannot find a matching configured secret. When such a connection is automatically added on startup sing the auto= keyword, it can cause repeated crashes leading to a denial of service.
