Description
This security bulletin contains information about 7 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-20197)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to infinite loop in the HFS+ file parser. A remote attacker can consume all available system resources and cause denial of service conditions.
2) Expired pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-20212)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to an error in the AutoIt file parser. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted file to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
3) Improper Validation of Array Index (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-40477)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of array index when processing recovery volumes. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted archive and execute arbitrary code on the system.
4) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-20290)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the OLE2 file format parser. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
5) OS Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-20328)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in the "VirusEvent" feature. A remote unauthenticated attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and execute arbitrary OS commands on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
6) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-20505)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition within the PDF file parser. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted PDF file to the antivirus, trigger an out-of-bounds read error and crash the antivirus engine.
7) UNIX symbolic link following (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-20506)
The vulnerability allows a local user to corrupt system files.
The vulnerability exists due to a symlink following issue within the logging module. A local user with existing access to the 'clamd' or 'freshclam' services can corrupt system files and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
