Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Heap-based buffer overflow in the xwd_decode_frame function in libavcodec/xwddec.c in FFmpeg before 2.8.12, 3.0.x before 3.0.8, 3.1.x before 3.1.8, 3.2.x before 3.2.5, and 3.3.x before 3.3.1. A remote attacker can use a crafted file. to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

The vendor has issued the following versions to address this vulnerability: 2.8.12, 3.0.8, 3.1.8, 3.2.5, 3.3.1.
