Vulnerability risk: Low
CVSSv4.0: 4.3 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Clear]
CVE-ID:
CWE-ID:
CWE-20
Exploitation vector: Local
Exploit availability: No
Vulnerable software:
Botan
Universal components / Libraries /
Libraries used by multiple products
Vendor: Randombit
Description
The vulnerability allows a local authenticated user to gain access to sensitive information.
A cryptographic cache-based side channel in the RSA implementation in Botan before 1.10.17, and 1.11.x and 2.x before 2.3.0, allows a local attacker to recover information about RSA secret keys, as demonstrated by CacheD. This occurs because an array is indexed with bits derived from a secret key.
Mitigation
Install update from vendor's website.
Vulnerable software versions
Botan: 1.11.0 - 1.11.34, 2.0.0 - 2.0.1, 2.1.0, 2.2.0
