Description

The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to the initscript in smokeping on Gentoo uses a PID file that is writable by the smokeping user. A local user can write an arbitrary number to the PID file and prevent smokeping from starting.

Install updates from vendor's website.
