Description
This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-8137)
The vulnerability allows remote attackers to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can cause a denial of service (crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted ICC color profile in a JPEG 2000 image file.
2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-8138)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Heap-based buffer overflow in the jp2_decode function in JasPer 1.900.1 and earlier. A remote attacker can use a crafted JPEG 2000 file. to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
3) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-8157)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error in Off-by-one error in the jpc_dec_process_sot function in JasPer 1.900.1 and earlier. A remote attacker can use a crafted JPEG 2000 image to trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
4) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-8158)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing a crafted JPEG 2000 image. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
5) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-9029)
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to read and manipulate data.
Multiple off-by-one errors in the (1) jpc_dec_cp_setfromcox and (2) jpc_dec_cp_setfromrgn functions in jpc/jpc_dec.c in JasPer 1.900.1 and earlier allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted jp2 file, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.
